About Us

Anthony and Tony started this club with a few friends interested in competing at Flyball tournaments as a team in 2017. They graciously have practice in Christiana and instruct the training of all the new dogs and handlers’, and help with the original teams in tweaking the dogs for competing.

Additional Information

What is Fly Ball?

It is a dog sport for any dog. They do not have to be a registered breed or any specific size. All they need to know is come when you call and the love retrieving the ball. If your dog loves to play ball and races back to you for you to throw again, this may be something that would interest you. It is not as strenuous as Agility, but it is good exercise for both you and your dog. Your dog must be at least 1 ½ years old to compete but can start training before that age.

You ask what actually is Fly ball and how does it work? Flyball races match two teams of four dogs each, racing side-by-side over a 51-foot-long lane. One team per lane. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the lane and over 4 jumps, trigger a flyball box, releasing the ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps. The next dog is released to run the course but can't cross the start/finish line until the previous dog has returned over all 4 jumps and reached the start/finish line. The first team to have all 4 dogs finish the course without error wins the heat. There are generally 5 heats and the best of 5 wins the points for that race.
